With an emphasis on governance, as a way to resolve root causes of water-related problems, the Water and Ocean Governance Program (WOGP) of the UNDP supports initiatives for the sustainable management of freshwater and marine resources.
The program supports governments and other stakeholders on a global, regional, national, and local level by identifying priorities, developing frameworks for commitment, institutionalization and implementation of reforms.
With an emphasis on human development, in harmony with global and local ecosystems; the programme supports knowledge, capacity and policy development to protect oceans, marine ecosystems, surface and groundwater systems and coastal areas.
The aim is to assure sustainable resources use and the provision of basic services for everyone.
